Joint Handbook on Migrants’ Integration: A Service Design and Supply Perspective

On October 21 and 22, 2021, six projects funded under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program organized their second Joint Migration Policy Roundtable. The projects, named MIICT, REBUILD, NADINE, MICADO, easyRights, and WELCOME work towards developing ICT-enabled solutions for the implementation and creation of inclusive policies and integration support services for the integration of migrants and refugees. All six projects use participatory co-creation methodologies for this purpose, collaborating with migrants and refugees as well as with key stakeholders such as public administration, private sector, and civil society.

During the roundtable, each project presented their findings and experiences regarding two main topics: firstly, the issue of service design for social integration, tackled from the co-creation perspective. And, secondly, a reflection on the sustainability of ICT-enabled tools and services.

We present now the Joint Handbook on Migrants’ Integration: A Service Design and Supply Perspective, created from the interventions and discussions carried out during the roundtable. The aim of the Handbook is to identify difficulties of the approaches to migrant and refugee integration currently carried out and propose policy recommendations on how to improve it within the EU.
